Why don't I have a local number?

I have choosen for Xpress Concepts to utilise the internet for my telephony purposes. Calls to 0845 4744213  are routed through to a skype phone number that a subscribe to. Skype is an excellent free "Voice over IP" application that allows you to communicate for free to any other Skype user. 

It is possible with Skype to purchase extras, such as a inbound telephone number, that allow you to let people ring you from standard telephone lines. Unfortunately the numbers you can purchase for this service are limited to the major cities in the UK. 

The actual phone number the 0845 number shown above connects to is 0161 408 4005, a Manchester number. I am based near Chester, so choose to use a non geographical number to represent my business online and in my marketting. I do not want to put my local customers off using my service because they see a phone number for Manchester.
